i have gone through a lifetime of trauma; 23 years to be a little more precise. self-inflicted and otherwise. when you don’t have Jesus yet to lean on, trauma forces you to lean on different images of yourself; the strong one, the confident one, the soft one, the silly one… the list could go on. i had different parts of me that i would force out into the open when i needed her. it was a disguise to fit in; to please others. then you go back into your dark corner of solitude to be traumatized and ‘yourself’ again. i tried to capture this.
